Understanding The POSE Methodology

One of the most influential moments in Tracy’s professional journey came through studying Dr. Nicholas Romanov’s Pose Method. More than a running technique, the Pose Method introduced a completely different way of understanding human movement. It challenged the traditional approach of focusing on muscles in isolation and instead emphasized how the entire body works together through balance, gravity, timing, and efficient movement patterns. For Tracy, it was a turning point. It fundamentally changed the way he evaluates athletes, treats injuries, and analyzes performance. Once he understood movement through the lens of the Pose Method, he could no longer look at the body the same way. What others saw as isolated pain or injury, he began to recognize as compensation patterns and movement inefficiencies occurring throughout the entire system. Today, that perspective remains a cornerstone of his work, influencing how he assesses gait, identifies root causes, and helps clients move with greater efficiency, resilience, and confidence.

The Foundation of Efficient Movement

In “Pose Methodology”, it all boils down to this: can you perform the necessary Action for the required movement or activity, You need to be capable of applying your bodyweight (at the right time!) to perform whichever specific Action you are aspiring to do (or are being asked/taught to do). So, to the degree and level that you can apply your bodyweight, and to the degree or level you can conceptualize and execute the Action, you will progress incrementally within this framework. Even with each strength and flexibility exercise, the focus is always on these two things. Progress in your movement is a RESULT of progressively honing this interplay. Knowing, of course, that this result is fundamentally dependent on your skill of using proper support for this Action. -Lynn McFadden (Elite Pose Coach)
